Greetings brothers!
It’s been several months since our last update, but many things have been happening behind the scenes to finally get work started on the house. This past weekend, a group of local alumni met up at the house to start discussing what work we can start doing.
Bob “DV” DiVincenzo (1976) went through the currently proposed drawings for the house and a task list of all the major and minor renovations that alumni will be able to help tackle in the coming months. While many of the major renovations will be handled by contractors, there’s still plenty of cleaning, scraping, painting, and re-arranging for us to do. Of course, DV started things off by having us carry a large shed inside.
After going through the plans and discussing how we were going to divvy up the work, we were joined by our collegiate brothers for a Founders Day cookout. Brothers played cornhole in the parking lot in front of the construction equipment while cooking hot dogs and burgers. In the front yard, brothers were passing a football, while Walt Mahovlich (1974) told stories about previous alumni vs actives football games.
There’s a lot of work ahead of us, but everyone is excited about being able to start out this new chapter strong. Want to help out? There’s a lot of ways that you can get involved– help us get the word out about the new house, volunteer to tackle a project at the house, or donate towards the renovations. We’re very close to hitting our first campaign milestone of $100,000 and every donation helps. Thanks to everyone who has helped out so far!
Love and Respect,
John Cleaver (2012)
